Van driver sought over hit and run in West Lothian

A van driver involved in the hit and run of a man in West Lothian is being sought by police.

The 58-year-old had just left the bowling club on West Main Street, Whitburn, at about 13:00 on Sunday when he was knocked down.

Following the incident, the vehicle failed to stop and a member of the public came to the man's aid.

He later was treated for minor leg injuries at St John's Hospital. in Livingston.

Officers have urged any witnesses to come forward.

Insp Dougie Simpson, of Police Scotland, said: "Fortunately, the man did not sustain more serious injury but we remain keen to trace the driver of the van as soon as possible.

"Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision, or who has information that can help us locate this individual is asked to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, I would urge the driver to get in touch and help us establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident."
