Chemical spill at health centre in North Berwick

Firefighters were called to a doctors' surgery in North Berwick, East Lothian, after mercury leaked from a blood pressure monitor.

The incident happened at North Berwick Health Centre just after 16:00.

The building was evacuated as a precaution and two firefighters wearing chemical suits used sand to clear the spillage before removing the carpet and ventilating the room.

The surgery is due to operate as normal.
