Serial rapist Ian Wilson jailed for 10 years for attacks in Fife

A man who raped and physically abused two women over a 12-year period has been jailed for 10 years.

Ian Wilson, 41, targeted his victims - who cannot be named for legal reason - at various addresses across Fife.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard he subjected a number of other girls and women to physical and sexual abuse dating back to 1993.

Wilson also repeatedly battered a young boy who was aged just six when the abuse began.

Defence solicitor advocate Brian Gilfedder told the court his client had a drink problem and was drunk when he committed the offences. Mr Gilfedder added: "He completely lost the plot."

Judge Lord Kinclaven ordered Wilson to be supervised for four years after his release from prison.

He said: "You have been convicted of a number of serious matters. I will impose a custodial term of 10 years."

Det Sgt Stuart Hunter, of Police Scotland's domestic abuse investigation unit in Fife, described Wilson as a "career domestic abuser".

He added: "I must pay tribute to the bravery of Wilson's victims, who provided essential information and evidence in order to greatly assist with our inquiry. "
