Teenager charged over bogus charity calls in Edinburgh

A 17-year-old man has been charged after a police investigation into reports of a bogus charity worker in Edinburgh.

An enquiry had been launched after a man attended a property in Dalmahoy Crescent, Balerno, on Wednesday.

He had allegedly purported to be from the British Parachute Regiment.

The man will appear in court at a later date and Police Scotland expressed delight at the success for their initiative to target bogus callers.

"This is an excellent result for Operation Aristotle," said Det Con Ben Leathes.

"We are sending a clear message that we will trace those responsible for this type of crime."
