Police in East Lothian are appealing for information after a woman was indecently assaulted in North Berwick.

The 22-year-old woman was attacked while walking along Bank Street between 21:30 and 22:00 on Tuesday, 20 May.

Door-to-door inquiries have been carried out and investigations are ongoing.

Inspector Ian Mackay said: "This was obviously a very distressing episode for the woman."

He added: "Anyone who saw anything suspicious in and around Bank Street on that evening is urged to get in touch.

"An incident like this is a rare occurrence in North Berwick and I would like to reassure the public that we are carrying out patrols and officers are working hard to identify the person responsible."

The man police are looking for was described as 50 to 58-years-old, about 6ft 2in, of broad build, with short receding grey hair and a big pointed sloping nose.

He was wearing a dark jacket and dark jeans.
