CCTV images released in Edinburgh sex attack inquiry

Police have released CCTV footage to trace the man

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace as part of an inquiry into a sexual assault on Henderson Street in Edinburgh.

A 23-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of Monday 14 April.

The footage released shows the man police want to speak to boarding a bus in the city centre.

Officers have appealed for information about the attack and have asked the man to get in touch.

The man was described as being white, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, of medium build with a fair complexion and short, dark hair.

Footage shows that he was wearing navy jeans, dark trainers and a black hooded jacket, which featured an Adidas logo on the right chest, a white stripe across the back and three white stripes on both shoulders.

He was also carrying a blue rucksack.

Det Insp Bobby Deas said: "We wish to speak to the man pictured in the image in connection with our inquiries, and anyone who can assist us in tracing him is asked to come forward.

"Similarly, we would ask the man himself to get in touch and help with our investigation."
