A man has been arrested in connection with two serious sexual assaults in Fife last month.

Women in St Andrews were advised not to walk alone at night after a 27-year-old was attacked on Wednesday 9 April.

The next day there was another indecent assault on an 18-year-old student on the town's university campus.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attacks and is due to appear at Cupar Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 30-year-old man is in custody in connection with two serious sexual assaults which took place in St Andrews last month.

"Officers would like to thank the public for their considerable assistance with this investigation."
