Man, 62, dies following flat fire in Edinburgh
A man has died after being injured in a flat fire in Edinburgh.
The 62-year-old was found unconscious by firefighters inside the ground floor property in Wester Hailes Park at about 13:30 on Thursday.
He was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary suffering from smoke inhalation. He later died in hospital.
Police and fire officers are carrying out an investigation into the cause of the blaze, which is not thought to be suspicious.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the fire had been extinguished by crews from Sighthill and Tollcross.
She said fire and ambulance personnel treated the casualty at the scene before he was taken to hospital.
