Police have launched an appeal for information after a pensioner was left "distraught" after being robbed in East Lothian.

The 86-year-old woman had just collected her pension when two women and a man snatched her handbag.

The gang targeted the pensioner after she left the post office in Dunbar at about 11:40 on Monday.

A member of the woman's family said the pensioner remains "shaken and upset" by the attack.

A family friend added: "This is a disgusting thing to happen to a woman of her age and she has been left distraught. Someone must know who it was and I hope they show some conscience and call the police."

The first female is described as white, between 5ft 3in and 5ft 7in with long black hair and wearing a black jacket. She was carrying a brown handbag with a light brown strap.

The second female is described as white, between 5ft 3in and 5ft 7in with long blonde hair that was tied back. She was wearing a black jacket and light blue jeans.

The man is described as being white, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 11in, balding with ginger hair round the side of his head and wearing a black jacket, light-coloured top and a light-coloured striped scarf.

Police have appealed for anybody who may have information to contact them.
