Gary Telfer sentenced for attacking partner in Fife

A Fife man who attacked his pregnant partner when she received a Valentine's card from a colleague has been ordered to carry out 125 hours unpaid work.

Gary Telfer, 21, was angry when Laurisa Samadi said she had received the card encouraging her to break up with him.

Telfer, from Glenrothes, attacked Ms Samadi on 4 February at Alexander Road.

He admitted seizing and pulling her by the body, striking her head, kicking her to the head and body and seizing her by the throat, all to her injury.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry placed Telfer on a two year community payback order with supervision and ordered him to take part in a domestic abuse groupwork programme.

Fiscal depute Dana Forbes told the court that Telfer and Miss Samadi had been in a relationship for about two years.
