Thieves steal from war blind charity in West Lothian

Thieves who stole machinery from a West Lothian charity for Scottish ex-servicemen and women blinded in war are being sought by police.

The goods were taken from The Scottish National Institution for War Blinded in Wilkieston between 17:00 on Monday and 10:00 on Tuesday.

The thieves stole a power washer, air compressor and a green and yellow John Deere agricultural buggy.

All of the stolen equipment is valued at about £14,000.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "This inquiry is being progressed as part of Operation RAC and officers are keen to speak to anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the Wilkieston area on Monday evening into Tuesday morning.

"Similarly, anyone with information relevant to this inquiry is also asked to contact police immediately."
