Guest restrains East Lothian B&B owner before stealing cash

A guest who restrained the owner of an East Lothian B&B before stealing money is being sought by police.

The robbery happened at about 10:30 on Sunday at the property in Carlaverock Avenue in Tranent.

The female proprietor had a three-figure sum of money stolen.

The attacker is white, 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, in his early 40s, of slim build, with ginger hair. He had a west of Scotland accent.

He was wearing a blue anorak and jeans and had a grey holdall.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The woman was uninjured during this incident, but was left very distressed by her ordeal.

"Anyone who can help identify the male responsible is asked to contact police immediately.

"We would particularly appeal to the owners of bed and breakfast establishments who may recognise the description."
