Yulia Solodyankina Yulia Solodyankina went missing ahead of her graduation

Human remains found in Argyll last week have been confirmed by police as those of Russian student Yulia Solodyankina.

The 22-year-old Edinburgh University physics student was reported missing in June of last year.

Remains were discovered in a remote location near Arrochar on Thursday 9 January.

Police said Ms Solodyankina's family had been informed and there were no suspicious circumstances in connection with the death.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "Following further forensic examination and DNA testing, we can confirm the identity as that of Russian student, Yulia Solodyankina who had been reported missing in June."

A report has has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Ms Solodyankina was last spotted at Glasgow's Buchanan Street bus station on 7 June.

Her parents made an emotional appeal after she disappeared, describing their daughter as "our life".
