Melissa Young to stand trial for Edinburgh Christmas murder

A 37-year-old woman charged with a murder in Edinburgh on Christmas Day has been fully committed for trial.

Melissa Magdalene Young appeared in private before Sheriff Michael O'Grady QC in the city's Sheriff Court.

No plea or declaration was made and her defence solicitor, Eddie Wilson, made no application for bail.

It follows the discovery of the body of Alan Williamson, 47, in a Glenure Loan flat in Drumbrae on Christmas Day. Ms Young was remanded to Corntonvale.

Ms Young made her first appearance on petition a week ago.
