Melissa Young in court over Christmas Day murder in Edinburgh

A 37-year old woman has appeared in court charged with a murder in Edinburgh on Christmas Day.

Melissa Young, from Edinburgh, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Kenneth Maciver at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

No plea or declaration was made on her behalf and the case was continued for further inquiry.

It follows the discovery of the body of Alan Williamson, 47, in a Glenure Loan flat in Drumbrae on Christmas Day.

A psychiatric report was called for and no application was made for bail. Ms Young was remanded in custody.
