A 26-year-old man has been charged with careless driving following reports he was eating a bowl of breakfast cereal at the wheel in Edinburgh.

It follows footage taken by a cyclist using a head camera showing a man eating from a bowl while driving near the Meadows last month.

Police Scotland said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A 26-year-old man has been charged with an alleged driving offence."
