Man sought over flats bin sex attack in Edinburgh

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a sexual assault in the west of the city.

The incident happened at about 17:45 on Monday in Fauldburn.

The 43-year-old woman was in the communal bin area of a block of flats when she was approached from behind by a man and sexually assaulted.

The attacker is white, 6ft tall, 20 to 25 years old, of medium build, with dark shaved hair, large dark eyes, clean shaven and a local accent.

He was wearing a grey hoodie with a zip-up front and a red/pink round-neck t-shirt underneath.

Insp Chris Scobbie, of Police Scotland, said: "This incident has caused significant distress to the lady involved and I would appeal to anyone who recognises the description, or believes they have information which could assist our enquiry to come forward."
