Man sought for sexual assault at Wester Hailes

A man who sexually assaulted a woman at an underpass in Edinburgh is being sought by police.

The attack happened on Monday at about 21:00 at the underpass running under Wester Hailes Road, which leads to Murrayburn.

The 22-year-old victim was approached by a man who spoke to her before subjecting her to a sexual assault.

The man is white, in his mid 20s to early 30s, 5ft 8ins tall, of athletic build, and has brown or black hair.

He wore a white hooded top with an emblem on the left chest area, and his nose appeared as if it had been broken.

Det Sgt Keith Fairbairn, from Police Scotland, appealed for witnesses.

He said: "While the victim was not injured, she was left understandably distressed as a result of her ordeal, and we are appealing for any information that can help us trace the suspect."
