Edinburgh Mela organisers have said they will refund customers after the event was forced to close early due to bad weather.

Refunds will be available to anyone who bought or picked up tickets after 15:00 on Sunday.

High winds forced the organisers to close the main stage an hour later, and the whole site by 19:00.

Headliners The Orb, due to play their only UK set this year outside Glastonbury, were forced to cancel.

The event had seen its most successful opening day ever on Saturday, with more than 13,000 people in attendance.

Mela organisers thanked the audiences and performers for their understanding about the early closure.

"The overflowing of support we've received has been wonderful and has meant a huge amount to us," they said.

"We're obviously hugely disappointed that this has happened, and we'll begin planning an even bigger and better event for 2014 (almost) straight away."
