Crew rescued as Banff fishing boat Prospect sinks at Lerwick harbour
Four men have been safely rescued by lifeboat after their fishing boat hit rocks in Lerwick harbour on Shetland.
An attempt was made to tow the Prospect into port after it ran aground at about 18:50 on Monday evening.
But the Banff-registered white fish boat sank shortly after its crew was rescued.
The incident is understood to have happened at the northern entrance to the harbour on a submerged rock known locally as Robbie Ramsay's Baa.
The boat floated free on the rising tide, and the six pumps on board were unable to cope with the intake of water.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: "The vessel floated off. By that stage we had two of the crew off and then the lifeboat took the skipper and another person off.
"She was towed away from the main navigational channel and she sank."
