Cyclists rescue woman from reservoir

A woman has been rescued by two passing cyclists after she jumped into a reservoir to try to retrieve her dog.

The incident happened at the Threipmuir Reservoir near Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at about 10:40.

The 46-year-old woman was pulled out of the water by the cyclists before a Fire Scotland water rescue team arrived.

She was treated at the scene for cold and shock by fire crews, and was later checked over by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.

The condition of her dog has not been recorded by emergency services.
