Hibernian footballer Leigh Griffiths is to stand trial after pleading not guilty to shoplifting in an Edinburgh supermarket.

The 22-year-old striker denies stealing bottles of water and fruit juice from a branch of Tesco in Corstorphine in January 2013.

Scotland international Griffiths, of Edinburgh, did not appear in person at the city's justice of the peace court for the hearing.

A trial date was set for 22 August.
