Luke Coles dies after car and bus crash on Old Dalkeith Road in Midlothian

A man has died following a serious road crash between a car and a bus in Midlothian.

Luke Coles, 21, from Scarborough, died in hospital on Thursday having been seriously injured in the collision on Old Dalkeith Road on Monday.

The crash happened at about 08:05, 100 metres north of the junction with Newton Church Road in Danderhall.

The road was closed until 11:30 on Monday while investigations were carried out at the scene.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "Inquiries have been ongoing to establish exactly what happened and we have spoken to numerous witnesses who were in the area at the time as a result.

"Anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened, and has not spoken to police yet, should contact."
