Woman remanded on cocaine charge after Edinburgh Airport find

A 54-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine into the UK.

Dawn Sylla, from Lancashire, appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday following her arrest at Edinburgh Airport on Monday.

Border Force officers said Ms Sylla was detained after a "substantial" amount of the class A drug was discovered concealed in luggage.

Ms Sylla made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

The case is expected to call again on 12 March.

Ms Sylla arrived on a flight from Brussels on Monday afternoon.

Tests will be carried out to measure the weight and purity of the drugs discovered - which are understood to be worth a high five-figure sum.
