Woman indecently assaulted in Barclay Terrace stairwell

A man who indecently assaulted a woman in an Edinburgh flats stairwell is being sought by police.

The 20-year-old victim had been on a night out in the city centre before returning home to her flat in Barclay Terrace.

The incident happened just after 03:00 on Friday.

It is believed the man followed her into the stairway where he grabbed her from behind, forced her to the ground and assaulted her.

The attacker then ran off into Barclay Terrace and the woman contacted the police.

Officers have been speaking to her neighbours and carrying out extensive CCTV inquiries.

Detectives are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

The suspect was white, 20-25 years old, of medium build and had short, dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark leather jacket and light blue baggy jeans.
