A 28-year-old man is in hospital after apparently impaling himself on the metal spike of a gate.
The man, who is from Peebles, has a serious abdominal injury and is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
His condition was said to be serious but not life threatening.
The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Damcroft area of Peebles.
