Firefighters tackled the blaze at the disused church in Edinburgh
Forty firefighters tackled a major fire at a disused church in Edinburgh.
The fire broke out at the church on Taylor Place in the Abbeyhill area at about 16:45 on Monday, with flames and smoke spreading to the roof.
Eight appliances were at the scene of the blaze after crews were called to the three-storey building near the corner of Lower London Road.
There were no reports of any injuries, but rush-hour traffic was disrupted in the east of Edinburgh as a result.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said fire crews dealt with a well-developed fire.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are under way.
