Cyclist killed in crash with car near Kincardine

A man has died following a crash involving a car and a bicycle in Fife.

It happened at about 02:00 on Sunday on the A985 Kincardine bypass. The cyclist was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital but later died.

Fife Constabulary said the collision involved the cycle and a black Vauxhall Astra. They have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The road was closed to allow investigations to be carried out but has now reopened.

Insp Brenda Sinclair, deputy head of road policing, said: "We are investigating the cause of this crash and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the black Vauxhall Astra or the pedal cycle, or the immediate aftermath, or anyone who was in this area about 2.00am this morning to contact the police on 0845 6005702."
