A man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash in West Lothian on New Year's Day.

The 38-year-old man is expected to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday.

A Vauxhall Signum left the B7015 Sheephousehill Road, near Fauldhouse, and hit a tree. Front seat passenger Stefan Sakatiuk, 34, died in the crash.

Lothian and Borders Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Stefan's father and two brothers had said in a statement: "It is a terrible shock to the whole family.

"Stefan was a much loved son and brother, who especially loved his mum.

"Stefan will be dearly missed and we cannot believe that this has happened."
