Man charged with assault on Hibs footballer Gary Deegan

An Edinburgh man has appeared in court charged with assaulting Hibernian midfield player Gary Deegan to his severe injury.
John Hall, 27, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Nigel Morrison QC at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
No plea or declaration was made on his behalf and the case was continued for further inquiry. Mr Hall was bailed.
The alleged assault on the 25-year old Irishman happened in George Street in the early hours of Sunday 7 October.
Deegan, who was treated for a broken jaw, signed for the Easter Road club in the summer.
