Garry O'Connor charged with drugs

Former Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor has been charged in connection with drugs offences.

The 29-year-old was arrested by police near Edinburgh's Playhouse Theatre on Sunday.

It is understood he had earlier attended the Hibs vs Hearts Scottish Cup tie at Easter Road, which Hibs won 1-0.

Lothian and Borders Police said: "A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with alleged drugs offences.

"He is due to appear at court at a later date."

O'Connor, who has played 16 times for Scotland, is currently with the Russian side Tom Tomsk, who are based in Siberia.

His other previous clubs include Lokomotiv Moscow, Birmingham City and Barnsley.
