Police link Princes Street bus stop attacks in Edinburgh

Two women have been indecently assaulted as they waited for a bus in Edinburgh.

Police are linking the incidents which happened five minutes apart in the city centre on Thursday.

A 20-year-old woman was waiting for a bus at the Mound on Princes Street at 20:15 when a man tried to kiss her.

Later, a woman aged 26 was standing at a bus stop opposite Boots on the westbound carriageway of Princes Street when a man indecently assaulted her.

Police said the bus stop was busy at the time and officers want to talk to two people who spoke to the woman afterwards.

PC Carolyn Cowie, from Lothian and Borders Police, said: "Fortunately, neither of the women involved were seriously assaulted but it has been a terrible experience for them both.

"While we have to keep an open mind regarding our investigations, we are treating these two incidents as being linked at this time.

"We are particularly keen to trace the people who were at the bus stop opposite Boots on Princes Street, and who spoke to the woman who had been assaulted."
