Ambulance involved in crash with car at busy Edinburgh junction

An ambulance and a car have crashed at a busy Edinburgh junction.

The incident happened at 13:23 outside the Odeon cinema at the junction of Bread Street and Lothian Road.

A patient who was on board the ambulance was taken to hospital in another vehicle.

The driver of the Mini which was involved in the crash was also taken to hospital by ambulance, and two ambulance crew members received precautionary checks.

It is understood the driver of the Mini has whiplash.

Both vehicles were damaged in the crash and police have been directing traffic at the scene.
