Man dies in Edinburgh flats fire in Powderhall Rigg

A man has died in a fire at a block of Edinburgh flats.

At least 40 firefighters tackled the blaze in the six-storey block at Powderhall Rigg after the alarm was raised at 09:50.

On arrival, they discovered that a two-storey flat was well alight, with smoke billowing from the building.

The man was found in the flat and was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation has now been launched into the blaze.

Residents were also evacuated from neighbouring flats.
