Woman and children rescued from fire in Edinburgh
Four children and a woman have been taken to hospital after a fire in a flat in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the blaze in Parkhead Drive at about 17:30.
Three boys, aged six, four and three, a 10-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for precautionary checks.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said the fire had started in a bedroom and the building was filled with smoke.
A woman and her 15-month-old baby were rescued by ladder from the flat above the fire and an elderly woman who lives in the block was also led to safety.
The fire has been extinguished but two fire crews remained at the scene to make the block safe before an investigation into the cause can begin.
