A couple who robbed a dozen people in an Edinburgh city centre park have each been jailed for four years.

Megan Preston, 24, and Steven McGregor, 25, used an imitation firearm during the incidents in The Meadows in March this year.

The victims were targeted in the park and were threatened into handing over belongings.

Preston and McGregor appeared at the High Court in Glasgow after they admitted to the robbery spree.

Lord Bracadale told them the jail term would have been six years, but for their guilty pleas.

The judge said it was "troubling" that first offenders had got involved in such offences.

The court previously heard how the attacks happened between midnight and 01:00 on 29 March.

The robberies only ended when one victim managed to wrestle the firearm from Preston while his friends tackled McGregor.
