Man rescued from Edinburgh Castle rocks

A man had to rescued after becoming stuck on rocks at Edinburgh Castle.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue launched a rescue operation shortly before 05:30.

A specialist team rescued the man who was stuck just below the Half Moon Battery. He was unhurt.

In a separate incident in Edinburgh, a man was treated for smoke inhalation after an early morning fire broke out in a second-floor flat in Maritime Street in Leith.

Emergency services were called at about 04.10 after a fire broke out in the 51-year-old's kitchen.

The tenant, who was treated at the scene, had no smoke alarm but neighbours raised the alarm because of the smell.
