Newbattle Pool evacuated over chlorine gas leak

A chlorine gas leak has forced an evacuation at a Midlothian swimming pool.

Two staff members at the Newbattle Pool in Newtongrange Main Street are receiving treatment after suffering throat irritation from the gas.

Fire and Rescue specialists were called in at about 15:20 when the problem was found in the leisure centre's basement.

Two firefighters in chemical suits with breathing apparatus removed a number of hypochlorite pellets from the building.
