Man, 69, dies after Dunbar cliff plunge

An elderly man has died after he fell about 20ft from a cliff onto rocks in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Tyninghame Links, near Dunbar, at about 08:10 on Thursday.

Robert Gordon Harkess, 69, who was from East Linton, was airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.

Lothian and Borders Police, the ambulance service, coastguard and the RAF were involved in the rescue.
