A man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with a fire which caused £1m of damage at a Fife paper mill.

The blaze happened last December at the Tullis Russell mill site, which is in Glenrothes.

Last month police released CCTV images of people officers believed may be able to help with their inquiries.

Fife Constabulary said a 29-year-old man had been reported in connection with alleged fire-raising.

Eight units from Fife Fire and Rescue Service were called to tackle the blaze at the paper mill after the alarm was raised at about 03:40 on 27 December 2011.

Several fires in different parts of the building were brought under control and no-one was injured.

Det Insp Scott Davidson, who had been overseeing the inquiry, said: "I would like to thank members of the public who came forward with the necessary information which allowed us to make this arrest.

"Last December, had it not been for the quick response of the emergency services, this reckless act could have had a devastating effect on the workforce and local community."
