Police seize heroin and cash haul in Edinburgh

Five people have been charged in connection with drug offences after more than £12,000 worth of substances and cash was recovered by police.

The three men, aged 35, 37 and 40, and two women, aged 38 and 39, are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Officers seized more than £6,500 worth of heroin as well as valium, diazepam and cash totalling almost £6,000.

Lothian and Borders Police raided three properties located in the Wester Hailes and Sighthill areas of Edinburgh.

A police spokesman said: "Lothian and Borders Police is committed to ridding our communities of drugs, and these seizures were a direct result of local people coming forward and giving us information."
