Siberian husky stolen from Livingston supermarket found

Aldo has now been reunited with his owner

A stolen husky worth £1,000 which was taken from outside a supermarket in West Lothian has been found.

The three-year-old dog, called Aldo, was taken from outside the Morrisons store in Carmondean, Livingston, at about 1630 BST on Sunday.

The Siberian husky was picked up from a home in Harburn Drive, West Calder, at 1930 BST on Monday.

Police said they were following a positive line of inquiry to identify the suspects responsible for the theft.

A man and woman had been seen petting the dog, before untying it and making off towards Raeburn Rigg.

The couple were in their mid-20s.

The dog's owner had been inside the supermarket and was told by a member of the public that Aldo had been stolen when she came out.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information that could help with their investigation to come forward.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "We are delighted with the assistance of the local community in returning Aldo to his owner and would like to thank the member of the public who looked after him until he was collected and taken home.

"Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist us in tracing those responsible for the dog's theft is asked to contact police immediately."
