Timber worker crushed under wood load in Kirkcaldy

An investigation has been launched after a timber worker was crushed under a load of wood in Fife.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the Mitchelston industrial estate in Kirkcaldy at 1020 BST.

The accident happened at the Kingdom Timber Engineering yard, which specialises in timber for roofing and flooring.

The saw operator in his mid 30s was conscious and breathing and taken to Queen Margaret Hospital.

A Kingdom Timber Engineering spokesman said: "There has been an accident where some wood fell from a trestle stack onto a saw operator.

"The wood landed on the lower half of his body and he was taken to hospital.

"Paramedics said he might just have a twisted ankle."
