Man in court over £1m jewellery raid in Edinburgh

A 31-year-old man has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with a £1m robbery at a jewellery store in the city.

Michael Hood, from Edinburgh, made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further inquiry.

His appearance follows a robbery at the Hamilton and Inches shop in Edinburgh's George Street on 6 June.

Hood, who was charged with assault and robbery and road traffic offences. was remanded in custody.
