Scottish independence: CBI U-turn 'not due to pressure'

26 April 2014 Last updated at 14:10 BST

The CBI is to attempt to cancel its position as a registered campaigner against Scottish independence.

The business lobby group registered last week with the Electoral Commission - a move which led several organisations to resign or suspend their membership.

The CBI said it had taken legal advice, which suggested the application should not have been made. It has now asked the Electoral Commission to "nullify" its registration.

In an interview with BBC Scotland business and economy editor Douglas Fraser, CBI director-general John Cridland said the U-turn was not due to pressure from members.
