Glasgow bookmakers robbed by armed man

A man has escaped with a three-figure sum of cash following an armed robbery at a bookmakers in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.

The suspect walked into the William Hill bookmakers on Maryhill Road at 18:40 on Friday.

He threatened staff with what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money before escaping on foot.

The firearm was not discharged and no-one was hurt in the incident but two workers were said to be "badly shaken".

Police said a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were working in the shop at the time of the robbery.

The man responsible was described as being white, 5ft 11in tall and with a slim build.

He was wearing a black hooded top with a white zip, black jogging trousers and white trainers.

He had a black scarf wrapped around his face and was carrying a drawstring bag.
