Missing man dies after Orkney sea search

A man has died after being airlifted following a search operation in Orkney.

The alarm was raised at 10:20 after concern was raised for the wellbeing of the man after he failed to return from checking his boat in Egilsay harbour.

The Kirkwall lifeboat and Sumburgh rescue helicopter were sent to the area, on the west coast of the island.

After finding a drifting boat they airlifted the unconscious man from the harbour, but were unable to save him

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
