A scheme to safeguard one of Scotland's most remote landscapes has been awarded a £3m grant.

It is hoped the Heritage Lottery Fund for Coigach, Assynt, in north west Scotland will bring an economic and environmental boost to the area.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust and The Landscape Partnership Programme will use the money to restore the landscape, regenerate native woodland, and repair pathways in the area.

BBC Scotland's Jackie O'Brien reports.
