21 October 2013 Last updated at 12:43 BST

The design team for the Queen's Baton explain how cutting edge techniques marry with traditional craftsmanship to create the baton.

The hand-crafted baton made of titanium, wood and granite will visit all 70 competing nations and territories ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Will Mitchell, from 4c Design, revealed it was both a privilege and an honour to design the baton, which contains a hand-written message from the Queen.

The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow begin on 23 July 2014.
