Scottish independence: Dr Phillips O'Brien answers your questions

27 September 2013 Last updated at 19:00 BST

In the second of a new series of BBC Scotland webcasts we continue putting your questions on independence to key figures and decision makers.

How would an independent Scotland defend itself? Would Scots in the armed forces serve in a Scottish army and what of Trident?

BBC Scotland's Bill Whiteford put your questions to Dr Phillips O'Brien, a defence expert from Glasgow University.

The Scottish independence referendum will be held on 18 September 2014.

You can also follow our coverage of the Scottish independence referendum on our Scotland's Future index.
